Support to the pilots

Support to the pilots, October 4th 2003

On behalf of European Jews for a Just Peace, a network of Jewish organisations in nine different European countries, we express our solidarity and strong support for you, Israeli Air Force pilots, who have refused to carry out illegal and immoral actions in the occupied territories.

We recognise the strong pressure you are under to withdraw your signatures from the brave and moving statement you all signed. We hope you will stand firm. In so doing we want you to know that you have the support of very many Jews in Europe who are appalled by the policies of the Israeli government and their violation of the Jewish values we respect of tolerance, consideration and respect for others, so trampled on as a result of 36 years of illegal occupation.

We hope the stand you have taken will contribute to bringing the necessary peace settlement through negotiation that little bit closer.
