founded in September 2002, AMSTERDAM when representatives of the European  Jewish peace organisations from European countries gathered in Amsterdam at the conference "Don't say you didn't know" and formulated a set of common principles for a just peace in the Middle East.

This principles are laid down in a document, adopted as the Declaration of Amsterdam.

The conference was an initiative of the Dutch group Een Ander Joods Geluid, EAJG (An Other Jewish Voice). In Amsterdam a further number of statements and some plans for future actions were formulated.

MARCH 2003: SECOND CONVENTION, BRUSSEL

The second convention of EJJP took place in Brussels in March 2003, organized by the Belgian group Union des Progressistes de Juifs de Belgique, UPJB. It was then decided to give further structure to EJJP and to promote the smooth functioning of EJJP as an action group on an European scale and also spreading out its activities in contact with groups outside Europe, especially in the USA.

MAY 2004: THIRD CONVENTION, PARIS

In May 2004 a third convention was held, this time in Paris, organized by the Union Juive Francaise pour la Paix (UJFP). At this convention the Amsterdam Declaration was amended by adding a clear condemnation of all the violence against civilians. A statement on the situation in Gaza was published and drafts were formulated for an open letter to the European Parliament and the European Commission and for a statement to the Jews of Europe: acting against the occupation is acting for peace.
And in Paris measures were taken for improving the communication and decisionmaking within EJJP.

 The enlarged Executive Committee of EJJP will meet more frequently and the first steps were taken to create a budget for EJJP.
